Conserving Water: a community responsibility

In response to the recent water shortage in Victoria, Cabrini Linen Service implemented some major changes to its wash process by recycling rinse water from its two Continues Batch Washers (CBW) to make up for 90% of the required amount to satisfy the ‘Pre-wash’ levels.

Our main focus has been to optimise the water reuse system available on certain types of washing machines, without comprising the quality of service that we offer," says Cabrini Linen Service's General Manager, Ralf Pelz. "This significant change to our wash process shows our commitment to helping Victoria's water shortage and has already seen our average water consumption per kilogram of linen processed drop from 20 litres in 2002 to only 4 litres in 2009.

Having set an industry benchmark, we're working to improve it even further." Cabrini Linen Service is also sharing their methodologies with the broader laundering community through customer-related initiatives and an association with the Textile Rental and Laundry Association of Victoria
